Kate and Leopold

I had just finished watching Kate and Leopold with my boyfriend, when a flood of questions came into our minds, questions that will make us think for the rest of our lives. Or possibly until someone can help us figure them out. For those who don’t know, you should watch the movie and if you already have, then maybe watch it again.

In the beginning, Leopold follows Stewart out of the mansion and down to the Brooklyn bridge, with curiosity on who he is, while us as an audience briefly sees Kate and if you aren’t paying attention, you’ll miss her all together.

So when I pointed her out, it got me to think, does that mean that it was an infinite loop until they finally get it right?! My boyfriend pointed out, if Leopold had the ring in her time, does that mean that he still has it and there’s two rings when he goes back to his time?!

How can the pictures be developed in modern times, if it was taken from Leopold’s time? Wouldn’t it fade when Stewart came back to his time? And what happens to Charlie, Kate’s brother? Would that mean that he doesn’t exist at all?

It is no more crazy than a dog finding a rainbow. Dogs are colourblind, Gretchen. They don’t see colour. Just like we don’t see time. We can feel it, we can feel it passing, but we can’t see it. It’s just like a blur. It’s like we’re riding in a supersonic train and the world is just blowing by, but imagine if we could stop that train, eh, Gretchen? Imagine if we could stop that train, get out, look around, and see time for what it really is? A universe, a world, a thing as unimaginable as colour to a dog, and as real, as tangible as that chair you’re sitting in. Now if we could see it like that, really look at it, then maybe we could see the flaws as well as the form. And that’s it; it’s that simple. That’s all I discovered. I’m just a… a guy who saw a crack in a chair that no one else could see. I’m that dog who saw a rainbow, only none of the other dogs believed me. ~ Stuart

If Leopold is Stewart’s great grandfather, does that mean that Kate is his great grandmother and if so, wouldn’t that mean that he had sex with her?! They didn’t imply that they did, but Stewart and Kate both have voiced that they were each other’s exes.

What time frame would they live in? What if Kate misses Charlie and her lifestyle? Would they spend half their time in each century?! Either way, at least they can teach each other how to fit in to the society they were born in.

With all of these movies and TV shows, new and old; Doctor Who, Star Trek, Kate and Leopold, etc, showing that there’s a possibility of a crack in time, it makes me think and wonder if what people say in these shows are actually true. Yes, they are “just shows” but what IF there are cracks in time that we simply cannot see? It would explain the deja-vu’s people get and the feeling of not belonging anywhere. It would explain the crazy disappearances with certain people of this time frame and could show us a who new meaning to life.

Until we are told from the higher spirits of what we dream of, there’s no way of knowing for sure and we are only left to wild imaginations and sharing them with others.

P.S. This is the best thing to see Wolverine and Victor Creed in the early years. LOL
